seek for love, do not seek for love

Lord, make me an instrument of your peace,
Where there is hatred, let me sow love;
Where there is injury, pardon;
Where there is doubt, faith;
Where there is despair, hope;
Where there is darkness, light;
Where there is sadness, joy.
O Divine Master,
grant that I may not so much seek to be consoled, as to console;
to be understood, as to understand;
to be loved, as to love.
For it is in giving that we receive.
It is in pardoning that we are pardoned,
and it is in dying that we are born to Eternal Life.
                                                                      Prayer of Saint Francis

Your task is not to seek for love, do not look for it in front of your eyes
It is not in the morning newspaper nor in your coffee mug
It's not in the mirror, in the bathroom, in the morning
'Tis love, 'tis not love what you're seeking for
In the streets, the evening lights, the night, that dark blue in the sky
With a mere orange line, sometimes more than one, shredding
Why do you look for it in all the wrong places
While never truly seeking love, your task is not to play a hide and seek game
In the rooms, the large beds, the infinite travels, the people you know
It's a coffee shop on the other side of the street
You can see love reflected, spelled backwards
You remember a morning when you had coffee on your t-shirt
And the t-shirt was not yours, that was love, you found it there
UNEXPECTEDLY.

With the past, I have nothing to do; nor with the future. I live now. Ralph Waldo Emerson
